DaisyThis photo features a daisy as it's subject matter. The photo was taken up close to capture full detail and texture of the petals and the eye of the flower. The photo was taken with natural lighting and the subject matter was kept to the left when shot (rule of thirds). I made the photo black and white to really emphasize the detail through light and dark. The image was taken from straight on in order to capture the entire flower in the shot.

BranchesThis picture shows two trees with barren branches extending outwards. The photo is a great example of the use of lines, as the many branches from the trees lead the viewers eyes around the picture. The photo was taken with natural lighting the turns the branches into black silhouettes almost. It was taken from a worms-eyes point of view in order to capture every limb of the tree. I believe the photo's composition helps to create a sense of mystery in the picture.

Depth of FieldThis is a photo of a branch of small flowers outside of the school. The photo is a prime example of field of depth. It keeps the subject matter in focus while blurring the background, forcing viewers to focus purely on the flowers. It also uses the line of the branch to move your eye across the photo. It was taken up close to capture the detail on the branch and flowers.

SUnsetThis is a picture of a sunset in Martha's Vineyard. The photo was taken with natural lighting from the setting sun and displays a large depth of field. The water in the photo is an example of the use of texture. The image also uses reflection, the light from the sun reflects off the water. In regards to artistic qualities, I believe the photo creates a sense of calmness and peace because of the stillness of the water and quiet setting.

DakotaThis is an image of my siberian husky, Dakota. In this photo, I made use of black and white vs. color by making the image fully black and white with the exception of his eyes. I also focused on the use of texture in his fur, making sure the I captured how soft and fluffy it was. I used natural lighting when I taking this photo and kept sharp focus on my subject matter. I think that the point of view in which I took this photo really allowed the full detail of my dog to be captured. The subject matter is compelling because of his blue eyes that stand out against the black and white .

Fallen LeafMy final photo is a picture of a dead leaf laying on the cement of the ground outside of the school. This picture uses the compositional techniques texture and depth of field. I used a shallow depth of field, keeping only the leaf in focus. By doing so, I was able to really capture the texture and details of the leaf. The photo was taken with natural light from outside and also uses the technical aspect of focus (only the leaf is in focus). I think the photo has a sense of meaning to it.
